Harmony and Motion International Music and Dance Festival 2017
The 6th Harmony & Motion International Music and Festival, September 29 to October 1, will celebrate the exquisite diversity of music and dance in San Diego. Show your support for cultural diversity by attending this year's festival! Blending professional and highly-skilled amateur live music with talented dancers, the festival offers a world tour of exciting music and dance that will delight your ears, eyes and soul. This year's Harmony and Motion will take place in the beautiful CPMA Theater.

Harmony and Motion brings together the very best musicians and dancers in San Diego to celebrate cultural diversity with performing artists that will take you on a sonic and visual tour around the world. Harmony and Motion is a theater experience like no other in San Diego.

World spanning Jazz, Spanish Flamenco, Tribal Filipino, Indonesian Gamelan, Classical Indian dance, trans-national guitar, Thai Orchestral, Japanese Taiko, Brazilian Farro, Afro-Cuban, Persian Classical, and Mexican Ballet Folklorio performed by the best of the best musicians and dancers await you!

The festival kicks off with a Jazz Journey Around the World with the remarkable multilingual Allison Adams Tucker. Each stop on the tour will feature a different group of elite musicians backing up Allison who will sing songs in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, English and Japanese! Allison is an authentic and versatile artist of power and grace who can both bring it on or melodically soothe. In keeping with the Harmony and Motion tradition of featuring live music with live dance, some of Allison's numbers will also showcase choreographed segments performed by exceedingly talented dance artists.

On Saturday 12 different music and dance groups will perform. Two unique shows (featuring 6 groups each) will showcase diverse performing traditions from around the world. All of the groups represent the very best talent in San Diego within the cultural genres they honor. Groups include Naruwan Taiko, Omo Ace, the Ostrich Ensemble, Samahan, the Benedetti/Svboda Duo, Besos de Coco, Gloria Lanuza, Shalini Patnaik, Cajuina with Forro San Diego, Kembang Sunda Gamelan, Ballet Folklorico Aztlan, and the Dornob Collective.  If you have ever seen any of these groups perform, you know how fabulous they are and we are bringing them all together for a show like no other!

On Saturday food trucks will be serving up international treats and meals in between the concerts. International snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase throughout Saturday.

On Sunday there will be free music and dance workshops provided by local studios in San Diego.

Again, Harmony and Motion is a theater experience like no other in San Diego produced by the all volunteer Worldview Project whose mission is to promote greater cross-cultural awareness, understanding and engagement. Buy your tickets today!
