MP&MS Speaker Series Presents Dr. Dan Siegel: Mindisght and Parenting
This lively evening will explore the power of mindfulness to help children focus, battle stress and control negative emotions. Based on recent brain research, he offers practical guidelines to help parents with the challenges of raising happy and resilient children. Dr. Siegel is a popular, engaging and informative speaker who will address the audience in a question and answer format.
Dr. Siegel is currently clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine where he is on the faculty of the Center for Culture, Brain, and Development and the Co-Director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center. His psychotherapy practice includes children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. He serves as the Medical Director of the LifeSpan Learning Institute and on the Advisory Board of the Blue School in New York City, which has built its curriculum around Dr. Siegel's Mindsight approach. Dr. Siegel's book, Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation, offers an in-depth exploration of the power of the mind to integrate the brain and promote well-being. He also co-authored The Whole-Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind with Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D., which explores the application of the mindsight approach to parenting.
