Breaking Bread w/ Faction Brewing and ALS TDI
You are cordially invited to the fourth edition of the Hog's Apothecary's dinner series, Breaking Bread. Each dinner features a different local brewery and non-profit organization.
Join us on Sunday, July 30th as we take part in Ales for ALS with Faction Brewing and the ALS Therapy Development Institute. Our sous chef, Daniel Sotelo, has a delightful family-style meal up his sleeve, giving the stage to our California bounty of fresh summer produce.
We are proud to be hosting Corey Reich and his family at this dinner. Corey was diagnosed with ALS in 2007, and has since raised over $5 million for ALS research. He and his family, with the help of Faction Brewing, have been a major force behind Ales for ALS in the Bay Area.
Faction Brewing is run by Rodger Davis and Claudia Pamparana in Alameda. Rodger and Claudia have been prolific contributors to the Bay Area beer scene for almost two decades. They opened Faction together in 2013 and have since become a staple of Alameda.
10% of the proceeds will be going to the ALS Therapy Development Institute, a nonprofit biotech working to discover and develop treatments for ALS. They operate under the M.O., "ALS is not an incurable disease. It is an underfunded one." ALS is currently a fatal disease, and it is refreshing to see the dedication and perseverance of ALS TDI.

The Hog's Apothecary:
We take great pride in using the bounty and beasts of farmers and brewers who employ only the highest standards of sustainability. Our menu features a regular selection of entirely house-butchered porcine delights and farm-direct produce that ideally complement our unique and meticulously curated local draft selection.
Faction Brewing:
Faction Brewing opened to the public in December of 2013 in a repurposed 25,000 sq. ft. Marine Corps helicopter hangar on the old Alameda Naval Base with sweeping views of the SF skyline and Bay Bridge. Faction Brewing has dabbled in just about every style, but the locals especially love A-Town Pale, only available in Alameda.
ALS Therapy Development Institute:
We are the world's foremost drug discovery center focused solely on ALS. As a nonprofit biotech we operate without regard to profit motive or politics. Led by people with ALS and drug development experts, we are funded by a global network of supporters unified to ending ALS in our lifetime.
