Cyrano de Bergerac
Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac will be performed on the HSU campus in the John Van Duzer Theatre on December 13 - 16 at 8:00 p.m. A matinee for school children (and open to the public) will be on Friday at 10 a.m. and another matinee will be on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com or at Wildberries Market Place or at the door.
First performed at HSU when both the director and designer, Dr. Jean Bazemore and Gerald Beck, were faculty in the Theatre Arts Department, this production will be a partial recreation of the mise en scene from the original 1976 production performed now by the Young Actors's Guild from the Northcoast Preparatory and Performing Arts Academy. The 1976 production received numerous awards and was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center. The current production includes original music, singing, dancing, fencing and choreography with a cast of sixty enthusiastic young performers and artists.
Embracing the high spirit of 19th century romance and adventure, the play offers a vision of our human potential for loyalty and authenticity.
