Language of School Advocacy - Behavior Supports
This on-going weekly educational series supports parents and caregivers who feel confused and overwhelmed by the school system, IEPs, or 504 plans. Stop asking the same question, and start learning how to communicate, collaborate, and plan effectively for your child. Parents, family members and professionals are welcomed and encouraged to attend!
In this module you will learn: ABC's of behavior What to do if a child needs behavioral intervention Functional Behavior Assessment Difference between PBIP, Tier 3 intervention plan or PBISP Intervention options
Summary: Learn how to recognize and assess the function of school behaviors and how to proactively approach behavior management in a way that can yield positive results. Discover how a Behavior Intervention Plan lays out how the IEP team will improve difficult behavior that is inhibiting a child's academic success. Understand the role of school discipline codes and suspension/expulsion policies.
