Fully Reciprocal Theatre Company presents Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf"
Shocking to audiences when it premiered on Broadway in 1962, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" is Albee's masterwork. Set on the campus of an East coast college, the play shines a blinding light on one truth-exposing night in the lives of two couples: Nick, a biology professor, and his wife, Honey; and the older George, a failed prof in the history department, and his bawdy, vituperative wife, Martha.
Returning home with George after a late-night faculty party, Martha announces shes invited Nick and Honey--whom they've only met that night--for a 2 a.m. nightcap. After lubricating their guests with booze, Martha and George begin a series of initially innocent, but increasingly terrifying mind games with each other and their guests. Taunts become jabs, and jabs become psychological attacks. As the night builds to a hideous, cruel frenzy, George turns on Martha, forcing her to face her most deep-seated illusions and self-deceptions.
