Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm presented by Westridge Theatre
By Marisha Chamberlain, adapted from the book by Kate Douglas Wiggin
Our 8th Grade Production features one of literatures most joyful young female characters. Inspired by the classic novel by Kate Douglas Wiggin and adapted for the stage by Marisha Chamberlain, this play deftly combines humor, emotion, and a compelling message.
This is the story of Rebecca, a wild and mischievous girl who eventually wins the hearts of not only her doting Aunt Jane, but also her severe Aunt Miranda. Rebecca leaves her widowed mother, her six brothers and sisters, and her beloved farm to go live with her aunts in town and pursue an education.
Rebecca faces many trials in her young life, gaining wisdom and understanding. Her spirit and joy for life are inspiring to all. At the heart, this play is a story of optimism, kindness, and bravery, as relevant today as the original novel in 1903.
Seating is general admission. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
