Sweet for Service 2017
Join us for a carnival themed evening with complimentary tasty treats, wine from Premier Wine and Spirits and beer and from Willowbrook Beverages and help support our programs!
Sweet for Service is being held at the historic Ellicott Square Building lobby on November 4, 2017 at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are $35 per person through Friday 11/3 and $40 per person at the door.
Amazing basket raffle items and silent auction items will be available.
The event will honor those who support National Service and Volunteerism in Western New York. The emcee for the evening, Katie Gibas, from Spectrum Cable, will host a program to present our second annual "Champions of Service" awards honoring those who support National Service or have made a significant impact in WNY. Congressman Brian Higgins is the honorary event chair.
We will also hear how a term of service at TSC has impacted the lives of two Buffalo residents.
Proceeds from our annual Sweet for Service will benefit TSC The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc, a Buffalo based non-profit, 501(c)(3) agency which creates opportunities for all individuals to serve their communities, challenging them to turn their ideals into action and their passion into positive change. TSC provides excellent programming in:
Education: AmeriCorps Build Lives Through Education (ABLE), providing children tutoring through social/emotional and math interventions
Financial Opportunity: Serve New York VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) and Economic Development Corps, addressing the injustices and causes of poverty through various financial development, financial literacy, economic development and independent living initiatives;
Youth Development: YouthBuild, a comprehensive youth and community development program which enables participants to obtain high school equivalency and advance toward post-secondary education or career-oriented employment;
Volunteerism: VolunteerWNY - which makes a demonstrable impact on the root causes of poverty in the counties of: Erie, Niagara, Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua through the recruitment, training, placement and management of thousands of volunteers.
