Breaking Bread w/ Craftsman Brewing and Mamacitas Cafe
You are cordially invited to the third edition of the Hog's Apothecary's dinner series Breaking Bread. Each dinner features a different local brewery and a local business or non-profit organization.
Join us on Sunday, June 25th as we celebrate Oakland community with Craftsman Brewing and Mamacitas Cafe. Our chef and owner, John Streit, has created a gorgeous and locally-sourced three course menu inspired by the bounty of California, matching wonderfully with Craftsman's eccentric and masterful beers.
Craftsman Brewing is run by Mark Jilg in Pasadena. Mark's beers have been a staple of the Hog's Apothecary tap list since we opened, and we have hosted the man himself many times. We are very excited introduce him to you.
10% of the proceeds will be going to Mamacita's Cafe, an Oakland-based pop-up cafe dedicated to providing and expanding employment and leadership opportunities for young women of color.
Menu:
Welcome Beer "Cuvée du Masumoto," Stonefruit Sour Ale
Starter: Fried Green Tomatoes with Cranberry Beans Paired w/ "1903," Pre-Prohibition Style Lager.
Main: Tea-Smoked Duck with Roasted Fig Paired w/ "Poppyfields," English Pale Ale
Dessert: Masumoto Peaches and Cultured Cream Paired w/ "Heavenly Hefe," Bavarian Style Wheat Beer
Grand Finale: "Fireworks," American Red Saison

The Hog's Apothecary:
We take great pride in using the bounty and beasts of farmers and brewers who employ only the highest standards of sustainability. Our menu features a regular selection of entirely house-butchered porcine delights and farm-direct produce that ideally complement our unique and meticulously curated local draft selection.
Craftsman Brewing:
Founded in 1995, Craftsman Brewing Company is Los Angeles oldest craft brewery. The secret ingredient that makes each of Craftsmans beers so special is pretty simple: integrity. Owner and brewer, Mark Jilg, puts a lot of it into every step of the brewing process, and it shows.
Mamacitas Cafe:
Our mission is to create fair wage jobs, specifically for young women of color ages 18-24, and to expand employment and leadership opportunities for youth in transition from the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
