Les Hommes de Cave feat. Ann Guilian at Westchester Collaborative Theater
Saturday June 24th at 8pm, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT)s new black box performing space located at 23 Water St. in Ossining will showcase a concert by the distinctive and highly acclaimed local music ensemble Les Hommes de Cave. The five-piece, edgy jazz band will feature WCT member actor Ann Gulian as lead vocalist.
The concert begins at 8 pm; tickets are $15. (limited seating available.)
Les Hommes de Cave, performs edgy mainstream jazz that mixes classic standards with influences from Haiti, Brazil and American R&B. The members are Philippe Charles on bass; Graham Gulian on drums; Rik Kaufman on piano; Jeremy Kattell on Sax; and Dan Williams on trombone, featuring Ann Gulian as vocalist. The core rhythm section developed a loyal following at the now defunct One Station Plaza performance space in Peekskill in the late 90s. While Charles, Graham Gulian and Kaufman first performed together in the 1970s, the group expanded in 2005, and now explores a broad range of music through the lens of be-bop and post be-bop traditions. The recent addition of singer/songwriter extraordinaire Ann Gulian has enabled the band to broaden its repertoire even further to include a variety of rarely heard selections from jazz and pop songbooks.
Says WCT Executive Director Alan Lutwin, "We look forward to presenting these amazing artists and having their musicianship complement WCTs theater productions, both our mainstage performances and ongoing series of readings. We want the black box venue to offer our audiences the highest caliber of performing artists in the lower Hudson Valley".
The concerts follow WCTs successful run of Albi Gorn's play, "Lot's Wife" in March and an SRO benefit concert by Ossining blues and jazz legend KJ Denhert in April, both at the black box.
