NBAFF - Southern Maryland Film Festival Presents
Started in 2014, with a mission to treat film as art by exposing Southern Maryland audiences to locally made movies - while providing local filmmakers with a venue and an audience - the Committee has now successfully run two Film Festivals in 2015 and 2016, in downtown Leonardtown, St. Marys County.
The films include:
Farming the Saint Mary's - This film takes a look at the life of Craig Kelly, one of St. Marys Countys last real oyster farmer and explores some of the tough but very rewarding aspects of the job.
Crossing - A documentary about Eddie, a popular crossing guard for the DC transportation service and server at an upscale neighborhood market.
Hope Edvenutres - Ed loves going on adventures, also known as Edventures. He loves to bring Hope, his drone--named appropriately because he "hopes" it doesn't crash. In January 2016 Snowmaggedon hit the area and Ed wanted to capture the beauty from the sky.
Fountain of Youth - A visually-stunning original music video about people's never-ending quest to look and feel younger.
Psychedelic Life Trip - A traveler, who plays the banjo and is on a quest to figure out the meaning of life, realizes the ultimate meaning of life is to write her own story.
His Town - This music video is the haunting story of a poor young boy growing up in a rural town.
Pointe - A documentary about the discipline of ballet dancers through a profile of one young ballerina.
Me - In this short film, the filmmaker expresses who she is without showing her face by combining her likes and passions which represent herself.
Live Your Extraordinary Life - A filmmaker shares her insight into why everyone is extraordinary, including you!
Historic St. Mary's County Life - The County Life Crew goes to Historic St.Marys City to learn about the first colony in Maryland.
Shy Fu - This martial arts comedy follows Shy Fuy in a journey of self-discovery. Breaking Bad meets 70s Kung Fu films. (Language, Violence, Drug References)
Don't Push Play - In this comic spoof, Allen opens a mysterious DVD case and becomes trapped inside a poorly-made college students horror film.
Jane Doe - Alyssa and Ryan Stewart take a somber trip to identify a Jane Doe who may be their missing daughter. (strong language)
