RENT at SoL Theatre Company
Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Rent has become a pop culture phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages. The play is based on Puccini's opera, La Boheme and its story centers around a group of impoverished artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in an era wracked by the AIDS epidemic.
Our cast of young adults, ages 14-19 bring their modern experiences to a story filled with themes that reach into every corner and every life. This is theatre at its best exuberant, passionate and joyous.
This production is not recommended for audiences under 14. Parental guidance is suggested and must accompany all under 14.
