THE NUTCRACKER, A Contemporary Ballet is
Giada Ferrone's fresh and modern vision of this beloved holiday classic balancing strong classical ballet technique and Tchaikovsky's original score with captivating contemporary movement, hints of new dance styles, characters and scenes, and sprinkles of witty theatrical magic. Complimenting the original cast are a beautiful and aloof Marzipan Doll, a Gingerbread Toy yearning to experience human love and an 8 legged break-dancing King Spider who is defeated by the Nutcracker himself, assisted by fly-swatting Candy Canes and a thumping Tarantella... choreographed by Nicola Iervasi.

This full-scale 70-minute production is distinctive for uniting students & professionals from several dance communities from all over the New York City Tri-State area, while promoting the positive and powerful impact of dance on our fractured communities and creating a cast which is as truly international and diverse as New York City's own "Melting Pot".
