Tony Gouveia has emerged as an imposing voice of a new generation of fado singers in North America. Fado is the urban folk from Portugal. He possesses a deep passion and authentic vocal expression for this genre of Portuguese music. His performances offer a variety of styles, from the very slow melancholic to the upbeat and pleasantly piquant. Gouveia who has now become something of an ambassador for fado has begun to attract new audiences to the genre with his remarkable performances at the Mill Race Festival, Brampton Folk festival, Luminato, Canwest Cabaret Festival, Summerfolk, Lulaworld, Our World Music Festival, Kingsville Folk Music Festival, ,International Portuguese Music Awards and Montreal Highlights Festival.
