Show Style: Musical Comedy
Montreal actors Nadia Verrucci and Chris Barillaro are joyfully reunited to bring "Souvenir" to the Royal Theatre.
In a Greenwich Village supper club in 1964, pianist Cosmé McMoon flashes back to the musical career of Florence Foster Jenkins, a wealthy socialite with a famously uncertain sense of pitch and key. The musical pair met in 1932, and teamed up in the hope of achieving success. Over the next dozen years, their bizarre partnership yielded hilariously off-key recitals became the talk of New York, and earned them cult fame. The play culminates in a glorious, sold-out performance at Carnegie Hall in1944.
