Social Marketing Training for Managers and Decision Makers
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Solving problems, especially in the environmental and public sector, has focused time, expertise and funding on engineering and infrastructure solutions. These investments have not been matched with an equally systematic approach and investment in audience engagement, leaving the public as a last thought in public projects.
This workshop will give decision makers insights into smart investment and strategies in public engagement that can offer wider impacts on project outcomes.
Other things to learn: -Comparison of social marketing and three major behavior changes theories and other types of marketing -A summary of results from Nancy's recent survey of elected officials around the country on social marketing

Nancy Lee has more than 30 years of professional marketing experience, with special expertise in Social Marketing, the discipline of influencing positive public behaviors. She is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington where she teaches social marketing. She conducts seminars and workshops on social marketing and marketing in the public sector and has participated in the development of more than 100 social marketing campaigns, including ones for CDC, the World Bank, EPA, US AID, and the Washington State Departments of Health, Transportation, Natural Resources, and Ecology.
As President of Social Marketing Services, Inc., a small consulting firm in Seattle, she has been a strategic advisor and research consultant for public health, injury prevention, and environmental protection campaigns in Washington State including ones for increasing seatbelt usage, pedestrian safety, childhood immunizations, diabetes, senior fall prevention, tobacco use, sexual assault prevention, teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, decreasing drunk driving and texting while driving, recycling, energy conservation, water conservation and water quality.
