Mozart in the Rainforest (Whidbey Island)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Viennese Classical style had a profound influence on the music of colonial South America and on the birth of the modinha, an art song genre unique to Brazil. Explore these fascinating musical cross-currents through the music of Black composer José Mauricio Nuñes Garcia (1767-1830) and his contemporaries sung by acclaimed soprano Brenna Wells and fortepianist Henry Lebedinsky, performing on an original 1799 square piano by George Astor.
Join us for music, wine, and refreshments this fun, informal Cabaret Concert in the beautiful parish hall of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Freeland, Whidbey Island. Admission: $25 general, $20 seniors (65+), under 18 FREE
