Duo Gadjo at Devil Mountain Coffee House
Duo Gadjo is French native Isabelle Fontaine and San Francisco-bred Jeff Magidson. She listened to Piaf, Montand, and Trenet. He listened to Louis Armstrong and Muddy Waters. Their musiccelebrates the union of two cultures, largely inspired by the sounds of the 20's and 30's, when jazz was the thing and Paris was the place to be.
They accompany themselves on guitars, revisiting the American songbook Gypsy style. They also pay tribute to the music of New Orleans featuring Jeff on slide guitar and Isabelle on Washboard. Jeff and Isabelle are also members of The Hot Club Of San Francisco.
Kress Cole, a San Francisco-based touring songwriter, opens. In 2015 she released her quirky album with spiritual themes called, "Jesus Was a Lonely Girl." Kress is about to release her new album, "The Alchemy Show." Twenty-six of her songs have won the "Best Song" title in West Coast Songwriters competitions in different California cities.
