Celebrate Women's History Month and learn about Sheley's vision for Seattle. Sheley has fought for the civil and economic rights of all the people of Seattle for years as an attorney and a Vice President and the Economic Development officer for the Seattle NAACP. She has also served the people of Seattle as a Policy Analyst for both the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle and for the Alliance of a Just Society.
When policing became front-page news, Sheley took action. More than protesting for Black Lives Matters, Sheley joined the Review Board for the City of Seattle Office of Professional Accountability. She was so successful, that she remained on the board for nearly 4 years and changed policing in Seattle. She is now bringing her wealth of experience in fighting for the common person to the race for Seattle City Council. Sheley will not stop until there is truly justice for all.
She will be joined by the Honorable Nina Turner. Most recently, Nina Turner was a progressive leader in the Ohio State Senate. She is currently a college professor, motivational speaker, frequent media commentator and author. She has worked in leadership at the Ohio Democratic Party and as an elected member of the Cleveland City Council-both opportunities that demonstrated her ability to unify opposing ideologies in critical circumstances.
Turner inspires action and instills hope for bold causes like labor, women's reproductive health, voting rights, and income inequality. Turner is also very well known as a national surrogate for Senator Bernie Sanders during the 2016 presidential primary.
