Á Madame Vasnier: A Debussy Shuffle
LOFTrecital is back! We are thrilled to present a VERY special night of rarely heard works by the celebrated Impressionist composer, Claude Debussy. This shuffle concert will highlight the 27 pieces written for his muse and mistress, Marie-Blanche Vasnier, sung by LOFTrecital favorite and Twin Cities native, Julia Engel, and St. Louis-based soprano, Leann Schuering. Erin Rolek, sommelier goddess extraordinaire, returns with a full program of wine pairings inspired by the poetry and music of the evening.
LOFTrecital is free and open to the public, but due to limited space an online reservation is required.
A donation of $20 is suggested for the wine pairings (provided by LOFTrecital) The home recital/party is something most people have not been to, so let me take a moment and explain exactly what it is this evening will entail. Feel free to show up anytime during the "cocktail hour" which starts at 6:30p, grab a drink, say hello, etc, the recital will start at 7pm. Attire is casual, whatever you are most comfortable in.
Transportation: There is street parking and paid lots on all blocks around our building. But, being a Saturday night downtown, be prepared to circle the block more than once. Some streets will be free as it is a "non-event" night. There are also numerous buses that can get you here, as well as the Light Rail (we are .5 miles from the Target Field stop).
