Generation Variations: A Network of Dance
"Generation Variations," directed by Fran Ichijo, is a cutting-edge performance that speaks to audiences of all ages and cultures. Presented by HGCBT at the new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, MD. "Generation Variations" refers to classic and contemporary choreography to music that is 100 years apart. Musicians such as Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, and Elvis are paired with brilliant classical works by Tchaikovsky, Minkus, and Delibes. In keeping with Hope Gardens mission to bring ballet to the people" and to "engage people of all cultures and ages," this show will feature an exciting mix of classical ballet, contemporary dance, and Salsa. Ichijo has arranged a stunning mélange of dancers and choreographers from the DC area who represent varied ages, genders, and cultures. Former and current professional dancers, as well as gifted and dedicated young Academy dancers will captivate and inspire you. With a featured premiere by renowned Bowen McCauley Dance Company of Washington, you will be amazed and moved, and most of all, will be delighted that the music you know and love has come to life in a beautiful and unexpected way.
