Charity Gala raises $70,000 for Care Free Medical & Dental

May 12th , 2017, Lansing, MI Local celebrities are putting on their dancing shoes to benefit Care Free Medical & Dental during its 7th Annual Dancing with the Local Stars on Friday, May 12, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at the Kellogg Center, East Lansing.

Event emcee is Andy Provenzano, WILX 10 Meteorologist. The 2017 cast of celebrity dancers are:

*Ben Bakken, Vice President of Commercial Banking at Mercantile Bank

*Nick Eyde, Principal, The Eyde Company

*Renee Morgan Freeman, Office Manager & Personal Assistant to Mayor Virg Bernero

*Camille Jensen, Chief Nursing Officer at McLaren Greater Lansing

*Sara Lurie, Chief Executive Officer, CMHI-CEI

*Dr. Susan Maples, DDS, Dentist, Author, Educator

*Matthew Ryan Smith, Owner of Matthew Ryan Salon

The celebrities rehearse for 8-12 weeks prior to the gala fundraiser with a local professional dance instructor who serves as their partner. The evening will include a live auction, strolling dinner, and desserts.

For more than 10 years Care Free has been providing access to affordable, primary medical, dental, optometry, and behavioral health care for individuals below 250% of poverty who would otherwise be without access to care. The nonprofit is led by Medical Director and CEO Dr. Farhan Bhatti.
