Laughter is guaranteed at Wine Country Theatre's production of NOISES OFF, opening March 17 through April 2 at the Park Ballroom in Paso Robles. According to the New York Times, NOISES OFF is "The most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce. This dizzy, well-known romp is a festival of delirium."
Perhaps the craziest, funniest farce ever written, NOISES OFF drags us laughing and gasping through the world of a hapless troupe of ridiculous actors as they attempt to put on a cringe-worthy bedroom farce called NOTHING ON. In a whirlwind of slamming doors, missed entrances, phone calls, whiskey bottles, lost trousers, cactus, and Middle Eastern potentates, romantic trysts are foiled by bunglers and burglars, and the drama OFFSTAGE is especially more disastrous! Join us for an evening of tax evasion, love triangles and plate after plate of sardines. The theatre may never be the same again!
Director Robin Kirk Wolf returns to Wine Country Theatre after directing last seasons Steinbeck tragedy OF MICE AND MEN. Its great to embrace something a little lighter! Wolf laughs. This will be her fourth turn with NOISES OFF. There's something about this show that always brings me back. She says. Its obviously drop-to-the-floor funny, but what really reaches me is that, in its heart, NOISES OFF is about people doing what they love, as awful as they may be at it. It's why we in the theatre run ourselves ragged to give the gift of a laugh. Theatre people love the show because we see ourselves in each of these ridiculous characters. Audiences love it because it offers them a glimpse behind the curtain literally- and an insiders view of how the magic and the mayhem happen!
"Featuring a cast of nine local actors, the play is, a perfect choice for these hectic, crazy times" states Wine Country Theatre Executive Director, Cynthia Anthony. We need to laugh, and be entertained by the lovable fools that inhabit this classic comedy.
Opening March 17 and running through April 2, NOISES OFF is suitable for a PG-13 audience. Wine, cheese, desserts and snacks are available to purchase and may be enjoyed during the performance. Doors open one hour prior to show time.
