The Vinguard Winemaker Salon with Noel Diaz, Purity Wine
Every time I have coffee with Noel Diaz, I tell him he should raise his prices. He doesn't listen to me. Purity Wines are the best deals you will find in California. While he's been slogging away at his winery on Treasure Island for only four years, he has the skill and talent of an older wine soul.
We always have engrossing discussions about the history of wine, the state of the natural movement, his process and how it is evolving, and his foray into farming a vineyard he is co-leasing with Martha Stoumen of Elizia (another supreme talent). Inevitably, the conversation turns to other topics, such as the correlation between wine and film, and of course politics. Given the times we're in, both of us are very concerned about how the Trump administration and its policies might affect organic viticulture and other areas of the wine industry.
We've decided to open our monthly coffees to a larger audience and since we are doing it at night, serve wine instead of caffeinated beverages The tasting will include a broad selection including current releases, barrel samples and an older bottling or two. We'll also open it up to a Q & A so everyone present can participate.
$22 in advance, $25 at the door
