Event
Beaujolais Nouveau 2012
The Fête du Beaujolais Nouveau celebrates the French release of the new harvest wine, and the worldwide race to be one of the first in the world to taste this year's harvest. The Alliance Française de Milwaukee has brought this cultural tradition to Milwaukee for fourteen years, sharing the fun and excitement of this global event with the community.
La Fête du Beaujolais Nouveau is not unique to the Alliance Française de Milwaukee. This celebration is recognized throughout the world in commemoration of the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau wine each fall. The third Thursday of November is reserved for its release and has become an annual ritual for wine connoisseurs. Historically, there was a race to get the first bottle. People would parachute into France at midnight for a chance to be the first to get a bottle. When midnight strikes on the third Thursday of November, bars, restaurants, bistros and pubs around the world can begin serving the new wine of the harvest. Today, the race is far less demanding yet widely observed. The Beaujolais Nouveau release takes place in every large U.S. city, and Milwaukee's is one of the largest celebrations in the Midwest!
Price of ticket includes: - Unlimited tasting of Beaujolais Nouveau wine and many others - Taste of France: French foods from some of Milwaukee's favorite restaurants - Photo booth photos provided by Mugshotz - Entrance into Intercontinental's Gallerie M
