The TIMBALIVE project burst onto Miami's music scene in August of 2008. Created by Leo Garcia (drummer and director), it had the goal of offering the best of contemporary Cuban music, infused with different rhythms from around the world as well as sophisticated production techniques, in order to deliver a spectacular live show. Timbalive is one of the hottest Latin bands based in Miami. Their first album, "From Miami a la Habana", created a most unexpected success in recent Latin music history. Timbalive's members are all well-trained musicians from different Cuban music schools. Many of them have played with renown artists fro the Latin world, like Marc Anthony, Oscar D'Leon, Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino, Issac Delgado, Luis Enrique, Rey Ruiz, etc This time around, they're all together to make their musical dream come true: to put together the biggest and most successful Timba band in the United States.
With the release of their second album "La Timba Pa To El Mundo", Timbalive made history again, after being nominated to the most important award of the Cuban music industry: Cubadisco 2012 (the Cuban equivalent of a Grammy). What made this nomination special was the fact that, for the first time ever, a band based outside of the island got nominated for the highest recognition of musical excellence, right next to legends of Cuban music like Los Van Van and Charanga Habanera.
"We salute every US-based band that has the courage to play this music and do it well in today's market. So hats off to you, Timbalive, for helping to spread the musical message" --Bill Tilford.
