NYC Fundraiser For California's GMO-Labeling Initiative - Proposition 37
Join us for dinner and conversation to help raise money for California's GMO-labeling initiative - Proposition 37.
As American citizens, we have a fundamental right to know what is in our food. Genetically-modified food is different from non-genetically-modified food and MUST be labeled as such.
All net proceeds will go to the California Right To Know campaign. Once sufficient sponsorship for the event is secured, 100% of all ticket sales will go to the California Right to Know campaign.

All ticket sales & contributions are final. No refunds. This is a NOT a tax-deductible event.
WHAT IS PROPOSITION 37?
It is the November ballot measure in California which will be asking citizens of that state whether genetically-modified food (GMOs) should be labeled or not.
DOES THE U.S. LABEL GMOs?
No. Even though over 40 countries around the world (EU, Japan, Australia, Brazil, China) require that GMOs be labeled, the U.S. does not.
Polls consistently show that over 90% of American citizens want GMOs to be labeled, but Congress, influenced by over $500 million in Big Ag lobbying, recently decided against GMO-labeling by a vote of 74-26.
WHY IS THE CALIFORNIA BALLOT INITIATIVE SO IMPORTANT?
Since GMO-labeling has been refused on the federal level, it is now up to citizens to pass GMO-labeling on the state level.
California is our best chance since citizens will be voting on this measure, not politicians.
IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES THIS VOTE IMPACT YOU?
Yes!! Due to sheer size of California's economy and influence on the rest of the nation, a passage of a GMO-labeling law in California will encourage other states to do the same.
WHAT ARE GMOs?
A genetically-engineered food is a plant or meat product that has had its DNA artificially altered in a laboratory by genes from other plants, animals, viruses, or bacteria in order to produce foreign compounds in that food.
This type of genetic alteration is not found in nature and is experimental.
Approximately 75% of the food on supermarket shelves is genetically-modified. This includes certain baby formulas and a high percentage of corn, soy, cotton and sugar beets commonly used in processed foods sold in the U.S.

We are closer than ever in history to finally labeling GMOs - Be part of this amazing movement!
Thank you so much for your support, and we hope to see you at the event!!
