Otsukimi Moonviewing Festival 2012
The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix presents a traditional Japanese celebration of the full moon and abundant fall harvest: Otsukimi Moonviewing 2012. This annual fundraiser is an evening of delicious fare (prepared by Sushi Ken Restaurant) and exciting entertainment. Experience a taiko explosion by Fushicho Daiko Taiko Drummers, demonstrations from Arizona Aikido and Kenshin Dojo of Iaido Swordsmanship, poetry reading, heartfelt musical performances throughout the evening and more. Discover shopping pleasures from a variety of vendors at our Marketplace.
You will enjoy bento under the clear fall sky, peer through our telescope at the moon, stroll the path and feed the gorgeous koi as you cross the bridge over the pond. When you arrive, sign up at the Tea House to view a tea ceremony demonstration presented throughout the evening.
A truly Japanese experience, Otsukimi is a much-anticipated annual event. Gates open at 4:30 pm and you may stroll the peaceful Garden path all evening as you enjoy the program.
The Japanese Friendship Garden is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in partnership with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department and our Sister City of Himeji, Japan.
