One of the most Successful Hip-Hop Labels in Tacoma, WA History is Celebrating their Momentous 10 Year Anniversary. Du4Self has been Contributing to the Hip-Hop Culture with Black Power, Street-Smart, Knowledge-of-Self music that combines Revolutionary Militancy, Street-Soldier Mentality, and Smooth Musical Hip Hop.
Following the end of Black Anger's Legacy, E'Real and DV One formed the group Universoul and released a Street LP titled the "Pacifier". During that time E'Real also Linked up with Mark to make Du4Self an Official Record Company. Mark then brought on J Mar Da Sik and they released his first project "Go Get It" in 2006 which was distributed digitally and at mom and pop shops throughout the country eventually selling over 10000 units-catapulting them to the Upper-Echelons of WA State Hip Hop. With the success of "Go Get It" J Mar was able to land his 1st tour with Devin the Dude that was put together by Seattle's own G Prez.
Following the Go Get It album was the mixtape "I'm On the Grind (Go Get It 2)" 2007 which featured the single and breakout video "I'm On the Grind (Hustlin)" This was way before every rapper had a video on Youtube.
Next Du4Self Released "Be a 'G' About It" in 2009. This album was one of the 1st albums from the Northwest to get played on Pandora. This was also before every rapper was getting distribution on download sites. The album was released with a sold-out show at the original Hells Kitchen on 6th Ave. College radio followed suit and J-Mar Da Sik began gathering fans all across the country.
In 2011 came Off With They Heads. This album featured the return of Black Angers DJ Sayeed. This Cemented the Passing of the Torch from Black Anger and E-Real to J-Mar Da Sik. This project came with a sold-out release at Groove in Tacoma and a Tour set-up by Andre Brown of 81E Management focusing on the Bay Area and down South.
2013 brought Black Gold. The album refers to Black Royalty. The album had a slave-ship on the cover. The title and imagery illustrate the knowledge and history that Black Anger, J-Mar Da Sik, and Du4Self represent as a whole. During this album J-Mar Da Sik went on the Buds and Suds Tour with Seattles own G-Prez, a National-tour with Devin the Dude, Potluck, and Berner. Black Gold was accompanied by another sold-out release show at the New World.
In 2016, J-Mar released Cognac Lounge. Again there was a sold-out show this time at New Frontier Lounge. Off the strength of this last release J-Mar has been doing some of the biggest shows there is in the Seattle, Tacoma, and Northwest Region. Come Celebrate this Momentous Milestone and look out for Du4Self to expand even more in the upcoming years.
