A Valentines Romp through Hogarth's London
Join us for a candlelit Valentines evening at private members club, Blacks on Dean Street. Stepping off the streets of Soho, youll be transported to one of the most atmospheric 18th century interiors in town complete with creaking floors, crooked steps and evocative lighting displaying original features from the Georgian period. Inspired by the Hogarths prints that line the walls, well kick off the evening with a talk on Hogarths London satirically and often hilariously depicted in his famous cycles of paintings that depict the morals and dilemmas of 18th century society. Youll find this London to be full of toffs and taverns, lust and gambling, rogues and villains.
Hogarth is often associated with gin, and to get us further in the mood, well be tasting a selection of Blacks Club gins considerably more delicious than the gin you would have found in 18th century London.
