Faith Hope and Charity by Odon Von Horvath
This brilliant and punchy piece of German expressionism is humourous, absurd, dark and quirky. Follow Elizabeth's journey through a surreal, yet all too recognisable world as she she struggles against the system in order to prove her independence. All she needs is a sales permit, and she'll do anything to get it. But the system sometimes is just too strong.
Odon Von Horvath wanted to tell the story of the overlooked injustices of the criminal system in 30s Germany: the circle of crimes that occurred purely for survival, and who's punishments helped to keep society conveniently segregated.
Performed by members of our non-professional training company, this piece has been rehearsed in approximately 50 hrs. This presentation is the Historical/Political project for the company and is the culmination of our learning and rehearsal process for the piece.
