The Neuroscience of Game of Thrones: Screening & Presentation with scientist Kaitlyn Casimo
Winter is Coming will consist of a screening of Game of Thrones and a discussion hosted by a scientist. There is a definitive amount of evidence that climate change is a real occurrence and yet there are still many people that dont believe it is happening. This is not an information issue, but a communication issue. How does information move through a culture or through a family  through actions? Food? Texts? TV shows? This Science-and-a-movie like event will invite a scientist to analyze an episode of Game of Thrones and discuss how the Nights Watch could communicate their fears about winter more effectively, based on what we know about the cultural reception of climate change science. Volunteers will be invited to recreate a scene from GoT using methods discussed by the lecturer.

ABOUT WE ARE A CROWD OF OTHERS
www.crowdofothers.com

Artists Gail Grinnell, Sam Wildman, and Eric John Olson are using their residency at MadArt Studio to weave together an expansive, textile-based installation with a series of public programs which investigate the language and resonance of ordinary acts. This exhibit melds the ethereal fabric artwork Gail and Sam are recognized for with some broader programming and interactive public events that stem from Eric and Sams past social practice collaborations. Through these different approaches, the artists create a broad forum for discussing the sources of our day-to-day rituals and the ways performance percolates into our homes and workplaces.

ABOUT MAD ART
www.madartseattle.com

MadArt Studio is an expansive workspace which provides selected artists with a unique opportunity to create large-scale artwork, while providing the public with a chance to witness the artistic process. Through these exhibits, MadArt fosters a dialogue between artists and the public. MadArts mission is to support emerging artists in our community, to bring art into our lives in unexpected ways, and to create community involvement in the arts.
