Fernando Botero Meets Art History
Known for his robust forms, renowned Colombian artist Fernando Botero has produced a number of series over his long career that address subjects that have inspired and provoked his interest, whether they be political, social, historical, or stylistic. He can also be very witty, with humor infusing his works in such a way that what could be a caustic comment on world events, and people, is diffused with a smile. One of his favorite subjects is Art History, and he especially enjoys placing himself within famous works of art as he becomes both the voyeur and the actor. This talk will present Botero the artist as he meets his historical protagonists in unique personal interpretations.
