Learning how to spin: A two-part introduction
October 1st, 2pm-5pm Part 1: Introduction to the spinning wheel, starting with the basic techniques: Get the feel of the spinning wheel. It takes a while to get the hang of spinning, to coordinate the feet and hands to create a thread. As your skill grows, try out different wools to feel the difference they make in your spinning.
October 2nd, 2pm-5pm Part 2: During this second session, students will bring in their spun singles for show and tell, and spin on to enlarge their spinning skills by learning to use the woolen or worsted techniques to produce yarns for different uses.
$125 for the two classes, including a materials fee. Spinning wheels rent for $10 per week.
Special note for Beginning Spinners: Beginning spinners should take both classes in Introduction to Spinning, Part 1 and Part 2 to gain spinning competence and confidence.
