LATINO MUSIC FESTIVAL - "Honorando los Laboradores" at Tompkins Corners
On Sunday, October 16th, from 3 to 6 pm, Tompkins Corners Cultural Center will present Honorando Los Laboradores - a Latino Festival with traditional music groups from Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico, representing the rich cultures of the Latino population who work in Putnam County, NY.
The musical groups singing and performing on October 16th include:
Juan S and Roberto Verde music from Nicaragua, guitar and mandolin;
Moises Salazar y su Charango, from Westchester County - Peruvian music featuring charango, flutes, panpipes and guitar;
Edwin Rodriguez y Los Caribeños de Puerto Rico, from New Windsor, New York - Puerto Rican music with bomba and plenas;
Grupo Sentimiento de Ecuador, from Peekskill - guitarists.
"Honorando Los Laboradores" celebrates local Latino musicians who are excited to share their music in this new setting and pleased with the prospect of promoting their traditional cultures. It is a rain-or-shine event. If the weather is nice, please bring lawn chairs for outdoor seating.
This program is made possible, in part, through the Putnam Arts Council's Arts Link Grant Program, which is supported with public funds through the New York State Council on the Arts with support from Gov. Cuomo and the NYS Legislature.
