This is the fall conference of the Connecticut Social Work Oncology Group. These conferences are held twice a year on pertinent topics for oncology social workers or other health care professionals working with oncology patients. This conference will focus on the unique needs of cancer caregivers and will identify effective interventions to help caregivers successfully manage their feelings and maximize the experience overall.

The learning objectives of this informative program are:
Clearly identify and explain the psychosocial needs of cancer caregivers
Highlight special considerations in supporting young adult caregivers, those caring for an older adult, those caring for a partner or spouse, long-distance caregivers, and those caregiving at the end of life
Provide effective clinical interventions and tools to manage the impact of caregiver distress and to improve overall coping Identify challenges and barriers that arise in providing supportive services to cancer caregivers
Address the importance of caregiver and clinician self-care
Consider the unique role of social workers in supporting cancer caregivers "
