Listen to tales of some very strange characters as you explore one of Beverly's oldest houses. Explore the extraordinary Hale House and its connection to the Salem witchcraft hysteria in a guided candlelight tour.
John Hale was born in Charlestown, MA in 1636, and came to Beverly to preach when it was still known as the "Bass River Side" of Salem. Hale played a prominent role in the 1692 Salem witchcraft trials, and his children were threatened with witchcraft by a family servant who was an habitual thief. Hale wrote a book that was written at Hale Farm and published posthumously, "A Modest Inquiry Into the Nature of Witchcraft."
