Blue Jeans
Blue Jeans was written by Hoosier Playwright Joseph Arthur and is set in Rising Sun, Indiana. Perry Bascom returns home to Rising Sun to re-open the family saw mill business and run for the State Legislature. However, his arrival home is not what he expected. War Hero Colonel Henry Risener introduces him to the town beauty, Sue Eudaly, and her jealous beau Ben Boone. Perry helps the poor orphan June out of a sticky situation. Jake and Cindy Tutewiler are wary of Perrys motives for returning to Rising Sun. What will become of Perry and Sue? What will happen to Ben and Sue? Does Perry win the election?
Blue Jeans ran for several successful years on Broadway and thrilled standing room only audiences. Director Karen Webster has adapted the original four act melodrama into a two act melodrama for younger actors - age 18 and younger. Written in the style and vernacular of the turn of the century, this play represents the best work of a successful Hoosier author. Reading will be from the script. Casting is for five males and four females plus numerous townsfolk
