A troubadour is a poet with a guitar - Pepe Sánchez (the father of the trova style and the creator of the Cuban bolero). It was the late 1970s when Rosa Guadalupe or Rosita Valdés (as she was then known) was first introduced to Nuevo Canto and Trovo music, a movement that swept Latin America in the mid-60s characterized by poetic and passionate ballads. As a serious musician and an award-winning classical guitarist, Rosa was intrigued by the possibilities. Today, with her sultry stage presence and alluring voice, Rosa Guadalupe represents the essence of the Nuevo Canto style of musical Latin romance.
