Borderline Personality Disorder remains a difficult disorder to treat as there are many contributing factors. At the core of BPD, however, is a loss of a sense of identity. This workshop will cover personality temperament assessment as described in the book "Please Understand Me" by Dr. David Keirsey. This strengths-based approach offers both the client and therapist a place to start discovering inherent strengths and challenges of the highly creative and sensitive person and the accompanying vulnerability to developing BPD. This workshop will improve understanding and offer an approach to build authentic connection with the client and guide effective intervention choices.
Shannon McQuade is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 12 years of experience in working with clients suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder. Over the years, Shannon has developed an approach for working with this unique and sensitive population that integrates the concepts of temperament theory, biological sensitivity and dialectical thinking. Shannon has been in full-time private practice since 2008 and is the founder of Real Caring Integrative Therapy. She practices EMDR, DBT, expressive arts, transpersonal and body-based therapies. She offers private and small group clinical supervision and consultation.
