Event
Antiquity Revitalised
London plays host to some of the worlds most exciting antiques. As is well known, the British Museum is a labyrinth of rooms stuffed full of ancient goodies from Greece, Rome and Egypt. It is less well known that a clutch of atmospheric London Art Week galleries in Mayfair and St Jamess also reveal room after room of tantalizing pieces of ancient art, that the public can drop in and see whenever they wish with the exciting prospect of potentially taking them home. Well start this tour by contextualizing antiquity in the British Museum. Marbles and bronzes will be bought to life and given new meaning with our expert classical guides. Well move on after lunch to visit a selection of London Art Week galleries specializing in the antique. Well meet gallery owners and directors and discuss how to find, value and preserve antiquities in the art market of today.
