Who's Afraid of Old Master Art?
Old Master paintings can seem daunting to the newcomer, but with a nudge in the right direction it can be deeply amusing, moving and rewarding. On this day tour we will contextualize Old Master artists and their lives historically, unlock hidden meanings by following signs and symbols and get up close and personal with paintings to technically understand how such marvels could be created.
After spending the morning in the National Gallery we will lunch nearby and then visit selected London Art Week galleries to continue on our conversation. Great treasure troves of art will be revealed and by the end of the day you will have future confidence to engage more fully in Old Master paintings and the galleries that house them.
