Vinifera Trio
The Napa based Vinifera Trio premiers in Sonoma when it performs in concert on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Vintage House, Sonoma, 264 First St. East, at 2:00 p.m. The Vinifera Trio is comprised of Rachel Patrick, violin, Matthew Boyles, clarinet, and Ian Scarfe, piano. They have put together a wonderfully eclectic program of both classical and contemporary works, including Mozarts Trio for Piano, Viola, and Clarinet in E-flat major, K. 498 (Kegelstatt), composed in 1786; Francois Poulencs Invitation to the Castle, a suite written in 1948 and based on the play of the same name by Jean Anouilh; the concert suite from Igor Stravinskys LHistoire du soldat (A Soldiers Tale), premiered in 1919; Bela Bartoks Contrasts, written in 1938 and based on Hungarian and Romanian dance melodies; and an arrangement of George Gershwins An American in Paris, written and premiered in 1928. Tickets for the concert may be obtained from Readers Books, Pharmaca, Vintage House, and at the door.
The Vinifera Trio takes its name from the Old World wine producing grape (Vitus Vinifera) and performs a range of classical and contemporary repertoire, bringing an appealing kind of casual intimacy to even the most formal concerts and events. They have performed at venues and concert series across California and Oregon, and were an ensemble in residence at the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival. They have given lectures and presentations at Willamette University and Pacific Union College, and are creating the Napa Valley Forum for New Music, which will debut in 2016. Additionally, they are bringing their fresh energy and insights to underage audiences at schools and workshops, including El Verano School in Sonoma, seeking to inspire the next generation of connoisseurs.
Dont miss this opportunity to hear this young, exciting, and brilliant group in a program designed to delight you ears! See you on May 15th!
