Nordic Project Concert
This concert, part of the Nordic Project, is the perfect way to spend a Sunday spring afternoon. Fitting to the magic of May, this performance will offer a rich selection of lore in song from from Viking times to today.

Repertoire will span time, emotion, and language: Icelandic sagas from viking times with Christianity juxtaposed against old religious traditions; velvet love songs arranged with a contemporary twist; the most beautiful sad songs ever; the cycle of life captured in four verses; and a promise in a whisper that gives hope, and much more.

As a special addition to this concert Stämbandet will feature mystery guest singers to be announced at the concert.

____________________

Founded in 1978, Stämbandet (http://stambandet.org) has a reputation for excellence both as an a cappella ensemble and a World Music vocal group. Presenting songs rarely heard outside of Iceland, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Sweden, this captivating vocal band often breaks into six- and seven- part harmonies sung in six languages. Led by Allen LeVines, musical director since 1985, Stämbandet performs a wide range of a cappella folk traditions unique to Scandinavia, including "trall" - singers imitating fiddlers playing dance music - a practice that has been compared to scat singing.
