Organic Herb Garden 101 Workshop: Growing Herbs and Making Salves + Teas Using Plants

Come learn how to grow your own herbs and the basic process involved in making herbal salves and teas!

DATE & TIME: SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 11AM - 12:30PM
LOCATION: AMBER WAVES FARM, 375 MAIN STREET, AMAGANSETT, NY

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Our workshop will start with a tour in our herb garden with one of our farmers to discuss the basics of growing, harvesting and drying herbs, as well as the beneficial properties of the plants. We will then provide hands-on opportunities to make your own products to take home, including an herbal salve and teas. A salve is an infusion of plants with medicinal properties in a base of oils and waxes, used to promote healing of the skin or as protection. We will use a base of beeswax, coconut oil and cocoa butter and will have a variety of herbal and essential oils to choose from to create your own salve. You'll also be able to select one potted herb to get you started with growing herbs at home!

Just in time for Mother's Day, this workshop is a great opportunity to learn AND make a thoughtful gift for the special women in your life or for you amazing moms out there to treat yourself! Children are welcome to attend this workshop if accompanied by an adult. We will have cloth gift bags for kids to decorate to wrap their DIY Mother's Day gifts!

PRICE

The workshop is $;45 for adults; $;20 for children ages 3 - 12.
