Friends of the Museum Bus Tour
An interesting and fun filled day has been arranged! Attendees will depart from the Tri-Cities Historical Museum at 9:30 am and return at approximately 5:30 pm on Thursday, May 19, 2016.
The first stop planned is a tour of the Meyer May House, a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in the Heritage Hill Historic District of Grand Rapids. It was built in 1908-1909 and is considered to be one of the most completely restored of Wright's homes. Tour goers will view a short film about the history of the house and its restoration and then will enjoy a docent-led tour of the home.
The second stop on the tour will be the Frederick Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. Lunch will take place at Meijer Gardens, boxed lunches included. The new Japanese Garden, which will be beautiful to see in springtime, will be a highlight of the tour. Extra time will be allowed to explore it. Finally, an inside tour of the main building will be offered for those interested. Tour goers will board the bus back to Grand Haven at 4:30 pm.
Please be advised, participants will need to be able to do a lot of walking, climb stairs and keep up with a group. For more information, contact Kevin Geary at 616-842-0700, ext. 132 or kgeary@tri-citiesmuseum.org
