Happily Ever After: Burlesque and Variety Show, Benefit to Break the Cycle
Pack your goodies for Grandmother's house! Thursday, March 24, at The Jam, see your favorite fairy tales brought to life. "Happily Ever After," a burlesque and variety show benefitting Break the Cycle to stop teen dating violence, features dancers, musicians, comedians, and puppeteers inspired by everyone from the Brothers Grimm to Stan Lee. Doors at 7:30, show at 8pm. Buy tickets in advance and get up-front seating. (50% of your ticket purchase goes to our beneficiary.)
Our performers parody the epic and twisted love stories of princesses and Prince Charmings, heroes and villains, magic and mystery. For those whose Prince Charmings turn out to be frogs, 50% of box office proceeds go to Break the Cycle.
About Our Beneficiary: Break the Cycle is the leading national nonprofit organization providing comprehensive dating abuse programs exclusively to young people ages 12 to 24. From the classroom to the courtroom to the floor of Congress, we work every day to give young people, and those who care about them, the tools they need to live safer, healthier lives.
About This Event. This event is part of a 3-day event, Red Soul Days, a semi-annual multimedia and multifaceted benefit project by CerridwenWorks (501c3 pending) that uses music, performing arts, spoken word, and visual art to raise awareness about sex & gender / race & ethnicity issues in the workplace, in schools, in media, and in interpersonal relationships. We share stories and art inspired by competing social identities and encounters with prejudice in daily life. We aim to empower survivors of violence to recover, and in turn empower others. Red Soul Days benefits 3 to 4 anti-violence organizations each year and connects artists with vulnerable populations.
