Jewish Stories...Improvised
7:00pm Cocktail Reception 7:45pm Showtime
Local actor, director and producer Ed Reggi and Paper Slip Theatre present an evening of unconventional storytelling. Ed and his cast perform improvised sketches inspired by our own community members' life experiences. Join the Jewish Arts & Soul Project in collaboration with the St. Louis Storytelling Festival for a pre-show cocktail reception at The Stages Magnolia Café followed by an unforgettable night of laughter! Ed Reggi is a lifelong storyteller and has the stories to prove it. Growing up in the Big Apple, Ed honed his acting early on by sneaking into the NBC studios located across from his Brooklyn home. He studied improvisation at the historic Chicago Second City and with its founder Paul Sills. He teaches at COCA, Washington University, Saint Louis University, and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. When not making audiences laugh, he plays the role of himself on Oprahs nationally syndicated show, Welcome to Sweetie Pies. Reggi is also an Emmy award-winning commercial actor, director and has co-produced for PBS.
The principles behind improvisation were created by first-generation American Jew, Viola Spolin--Eds biggest influence and mentor. Spolin said, "play touches and stimulates vitality, awakening the whole person: mind, body, intelligence and creativity". And Ed claims, "when we play together: we repair our world--Tikkun Olam".
