An Award Winning Documentary on Aki Ra
Author, filmmaker, journalist, and adventurer Robert Young Pelton continues to overcome extraordinary obstacles in his search for the truth. In his travels to and through the world's most dangerous places, Pelton shares risks with his hosts, and is often the sole surviving witness to history-shaping events.
If Robert Young Pelton is detained or delayed for any reason, the award winning CNN Hero documentary on Aki Ra on his history and historic de mining efforts in Cambodia will be shown.
Dave Barr
Follow Your Dreams - Regardless of Obstacles
Dave Barr has done what most only dream of doing!
Inspired by John Goddard, inspirational speaker, warrior and friend- circumnavigated the world on a Harley 9 months after his legs were blown off- Nothing stops this man once he makes up his mind and he teaches that.
Traveling around the world is a huge accomplishment, but only the beginning of Dave Barr's incredible story. His solo motorcycle journey took three and a half years to complete and spanned six continents and 83,000 miles. What makes it truly remarkable is that Dave made the trip on a 1972 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with two prosthetic legs, the result of an 1981 land mine explosion. He pushed his way through the Sahara, Namibia, and Gobi deserts, slipped through the Andes during avalanche season and braved the unique challenges of riding across China, Russia, Australia, and Africa.
Dave later went on to establish a Guinness Book World Record for crossing northern Europe, Russia and Siberia on a motorcycle in the dead of winter. Dave uses his experiences to tell story after touching story. His life lessons will enrich and empower you as he shares how he brought his vision to life by setting goals, staying focused, and overcoming obstacles.
Dave Barr sets New World Record!
Dave's most recent adventure earned him a second Guinness World Record. This time he went to Australia on his "Southern Cross" journey. In just 45 days, he completed the first motorcycle journey ever between the four extreme geographical corners of the Australian continent. A documentary is currently in the works about this amazing trip
Dave Barr holds the distinction of being:
An individual who has served in active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam and also served in the armed forces of three other nations.
The first double amputee skydiver in the world.
The only disabled person to have ridden around the world on a motorcycle.
The first person to have ridden a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle around the world.
The first person to establish a Guinness Book World Record for traveling by motorcycle across Europe, Russia, and Siberia in the dead of winter.

In the Footsteps of Scott and Shackleton: a Voyage to the Ross Sea

The voyage on the M/V Spirit of Enderby originated in Bluff, South Island, New Zealand, cruised south to the Aucklands Islands, also Macquarie Island then into the Ross Sea after crossing the Antarctic Circle in the Southern Ocean. The highlight of the cruise was visiting the expedition huts of British polar explorers Scott and Shackleton after multiple attempts to get through the ice. On the return trip north we visited Campbell Island, the Snares, and Stewart Island before returning to Bluff. On the cruise we sighted numerous seabirds including petrels, albatrosses, and skuas as well as various species of penguins including Kings, Emperors, Royals, Adelies and Gentoos. Numerous seals, sea lions, and killer whales were also encountered.
Rich Abele is a former Contracts and Export Compliance professional who supported various military aircraft production programs including the B-1B Lancer bomber and the C-17 airlifter at Rockwell International Corporation and most recently The Boeing Company in Long Beach, CA. He retired in 2005 after 32 years of service.

Rich also served in the US Navy which included two tours of duty in the Vietnam. He retired in 1995 following 32 years of service in the Naval Reserve with the rank of Captain.
An avid outdoor adventurer and former marathoner, Rich has traveled to and run on all seven continents and continues to trek and mountain climb on many remote and distant lands. Trips include the Mt. Everest base camp in Nepal, High Inca Trail and Huayhuash Circuit in Peru, Patagonia in Chile and Argentina, three cruises to Antarctica, and an expedition to the Aleutian Islands to locate the WWII submarine USS Grunion (SS-216). More recent trips include an icebreaker cruise to the North Pole, tours of China, Tibet, Eastern Europe, the Maritime Provinces of Canada, and an expedition to the South Pole.
When not traveling, Rich is active in the BLM's Adopt-a-Cabin Program in the Panamint and Argus Ranges near Death Valley."
