JCC East Bay Parenting Seminar: "Children's Friendships with Rachel Biale, MSW"
"Let's be best friends." Wednesday, February 3, 6:30pm-8:30pm
"You are not my friend any more!" "I hate you!" "Friends again?" Learning how to make friends and negotiate the ups and downs of friendship is a key task of early childhood. Friendships that start in preschools can last two hours or a life time. How do you help your child build friendships? Negotiate conflicts with friends? Deal with competition for and among friends, with rejection, and jealousy? When should you intervene and when should you let your child manage relationships on their own? Come armed with your questions and hands-on experiences helping your child navigate friendships, for discussion and practical advice.
Rachel has been counseling parents of young children for over 30 years, including 10 years at JFCS East Bay and 30 in private practice (see more at parentingcounseling.net). Professional training: MSW (Yeshiva University, 1981) in Clinical Social Work followed by Family and Child Psychotherapy Internship, including training in parenting counseling at "The Warmline," a parenting counseling phone service at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
